this is not the case.

The surrounding panel option works only when the cache is disabled. Otherwise it is ignored. Please fix.

When the panel render with and without caching is worked on we should look at functionality of the panel when editing the Storage Format directly because it might be related to the same problem:

reported by a customer who was using the storage format editor to directly edit the page markup:
if I manually add

, the page does not show a border as expected but if I edit the macro in the regular page editor it has the check mark beside "Add Surrounding Panel".

Reopening this bug, I see problems with rendering a panel around ME Include when the ME cache is enabled.

Had the same issue and got it fixed it by updating plugin to v5.2.6 or higher. Cache must be cleared for the change to take effect!

To flush cache: Confluence administration > Multiexcerpt admin > Configure or Flush cache... > Flush all
