Anonymous access for page w/ include of restricted content --> Error rendering macro 'multiexcerpt-include'

Description

An anonymous user accessing a page that has a MultiExcerpt Include of content that is on a page that is restricted for viewing to confluence-users will see a failure in the MultiExcerpt Include macro:

Error rendering macro 'multiexcerpt-include'

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • on a page that is created your admin user:

    • restrict view access to confluence-users (and admin) only

    • add a MultiExcerpt containing simple content

  • in a space that has been opened up to anonymous users by adding the View permission for Anonymous

    • on a page that anonymous users can access, add a MultiExcerpt Include that includes your restricted content from earlier steps

  • In incognito browser, as anonymous user:

    • access the public page w/ the restricted include

    • see that the macro fails to render. It should silently render nothing but, instead, fails w/ error message:

    • Error rendering macro 'multiexcerpt-include'
